We kicked things off in 2016 as a small research team developing THE BOX, based in Nantes. Since then, we’ve grown to a kick-ass team of nearly 80 people, with offices in Paris, Nantes, and Berlin.
There are over 35 patents for THE BOX, some granted, some pending. We’ve run successful pilots with big partners such as Orange, Cdiscount, and Chronopost. THE BOX was named the “product with the greatest potential to change the world” at CES 2020, and there’s been overwhelming industry interest since. Next step: mass-production.
This is still the calm before we take the e-commerce market by the storm! Going with what we believe is right, we want everyone to have a share in our excitement and success: that’s why we’ve dedicated 50% of all our future profits to rewarding anyone who contributes to our mass production!
We see ourselves as a European company. We currently have offices and R&D locations in Switzerland, France and Germany, and we are working on new subsidiaries in countries around the world.
We offer a variety of services that make sending and receiving parcels smart, swift, and stress free. Our profits are derived from these services, which we call Packaging-as-a-Service. Because we use a unit of THE BOX at least 1,000 times, we can generate at least a thousand times more revenue with it than a single-use cardboard box.
We want THE BOX to circulate and be reused a 1,000 times before it needs refurbishment. So we designed a lot of ways to enable circulation. 1. If you receive a shipment that you want to return (partially), you just have to push the button on THE BOX to arrange the return to the sender. 2. If you have an empty unit of THE BOX, you can always use it for your own shipment. 3. If you have THE BOX at home, you can return it to a Guardian nearby and get a reward for it. He will then give it to the next person in need for packaging. 4. You can always give an empty unit to a neighbour or a friend so he can use it. 5. We can use THE BOX to target people at their homes to send goods to recycling, resale or refurbishment or donate them to NGO's. 6. We work on cooperating with logistics providers to let them collect unused units of THE BOX when they deliver shipments to bring them back into circulation.
If you have any questions about the Sharing Angel program that we recently closed, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Customer Experience Team!
We call it Packaging-as-a-Service. We want to stop the use of waste packaging, so we invented the packaging of the future, where we do not charge for the packaging but for using our packaging services.
