In a world in which every little action counts, it is essential for all companies to have a responsible approach.

Reducing our carbon footprint, using sustainable resources, preventing pollution, zero plastic, zero waste, ... All these ecological transitions are a major priority that continues to accelerate.

In this series of 5 articles we will explore the different issues of waste management inside companies.

Waste management : An organizational concern

Most companies, especially the oldest ones, are not used to sorting their waste. Internally, this requires changes in terms of organization.

Companies are mobilizing to set up an efficient waste circuit thanks to simple things such as having a strategic location for sorting garbage cans to facilitate it, eliminating individual garbage cans, offering short training sessions for staff, etc. All this while monitoring the volume of waste produced and the cost of collection.

The company SOPREMA, for example, has reduced production waste (bituminous rollers) by more than 10% by training and raising staff awareness on how to reduce the rate of waste.

The good news? It's not the only one to focus on training its employees! More and more company managers are initiating a waste prevention approach in companies through in-house or external training.

In addition, the entire production management must also be reorganized. For this, it may be wise to set up partnerships with companies that recover and recycle waste (cups, coffee, etc.).

This is the case of the start-up Canibal, a young company co-founded by Benoît Paget and Stéphane Marrapodi, which develops a system for collecting beverage packaging such as cans, small plastic bottles and coffee cups. It then sends the waste for recycling by the "eco-emballage" organization.

Waste management is without any doubt a huge concern for all companies that will face organizational challenges in the future.
